Patricia Kelley is an extensively published author of articles on marketing, business, horses and the prison dog programs.
Kelley has extensive knowledge and interest in dogs and horses spanning forty-plus years. Her comprehensive knowledge of breeds, dog behavior, and training methods has given her the ability to ask the right questions and understand the answers in developing this book.
Because of her equine marketing knowledge and abilities, Kelley has been invited to speak at Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technologies Institute; Lake Erie College and Otterbein College in Ohio; Cazenovia College in New York; Wilson College in Pennsylvania; Lamar Community College in Colorado; Rocky Mountain College in Montana; and Olds College in Alberta, Canada. Kelley has been invited as a key speaker/clinician to the Northwest Equine Expo in Oregon, the Georgia Horse Council’s Horse Fair, and membership meetings of the International Sport Horse Registry. Kelley is an animal advocate and a proponent for the advancement of the animal/human bond. As an equine consultant, she has developed a program called: Holistic Equine Marketing.
Specifically applicable to PRISON DOGS: HOPE BEHIND BARS, Kelley has developed key relationships that have allowed her to be the first author to completely chronicle the prison dog programs, its people and the dramatic affects on all involved. It is difficult to gain access to inmates—and Kelley has done this in a big way. These relationships include most importantly, a trusted relationship with Sister Pauline, the founder of these programs, providing exclusive access to interviews with insiders and never before heard stories. Unprecedented cooperation from Directors of Departments of Corrections, prison officials, programs directors and the inmates has been key to insider information. Hundreds of interviews were written or recorded, hundreds of photos obtained and dozens of relationships formed.
Additionally, Kelley is a natural at marketing and promotion, as this is what she does for a living. She is a marketing, business, and resource development consultant, and an expert at getting the media’s attention and cooperation. She is media savvy and has given many radio and television interviews.
Kelley also develops and directs sizable equine events for nonprofits. Celebrate the Horse is her newest–and will be at the Puyallup, WA Fairgounds on July 5th and 6th. All net proceeds will benefit People Helping Horses, an organization focused on rescue, rehabiliation and education.
