If you know of a dog, inmate or parolee, or recipient of a prison trained dog that has a great story to tell—let me know-and we’ll tell it here. These programs have proven the power of love and hope to heal hearts and minds in humans and canines both.
The original programs used “throwaway” shelter dogs and as the profound changes were witnessed in the participants [dogs and people both]—it wasn’t long before the programs were expanded to include the raising and training of specifically bred “blueblood” puppies. These adorable puppies with potential are then sent on to advanced training to become the eyes, ears and physical tasks companions of people with a variety of disabilities.
So, there are hundreds of released inmates that were involved in these programs—and thousands of “paroled pooches” since the start of these programs.
Give me a shout-tell me your story, or the story of a dog or person you know!
